Walcha Coffee wins Excellence in Micro Business — and NSW Business of the Year

Sydney/Walcha, NSW – 29 October 2025: Walcha Coffee has taken out Excellence in Micro Business and has been named Business of the Year at the 2025 Business NSW State Business Awards, announced at a black-tie gala at ICC Sydney.
“These awards are a credit to our small team and to a community that believed specialty coffee could thrive in regional NSW,” said Cameron Hayton, Managing Director of Walcha Coffee. “We’re proud to shine a light on Walcha and the New England High Country — and to show what’s possible for regional manufacturers and food producers.”
Hayton acknowledged the people behind the scenes: “A huge thanks to Jazz Hayton and Careen Hayton for their relentless work, and to our partners, suppliers and customers who’ve backed us from day one. This recognition belongs to all of you.”

Founded in Walcha, the roastery-café has grown from a kitchen startup into a multi-award-winning regional brand supplying cafés, supermarkets and venues across NSW. Recent accolades include medals at the Royal Tasmanian Fine Food Awards and the Golden Bean World Series, underscoring the company’s quality focus and consistency.
“Winning at the State Business Awards is a platform to keep telling the story of regional enterprise,” Hayton added. “It helps us attract visitors to the New England region, open opportunities for young people, and keep investing in capability — from packaging innovation to training.”
